From the recording Taking Flight
Lyrics
The wind blows
Tickles a sense inside me
The smell of dawn
Damp, dreary and yet still lovely
The horizon glows
Deep purple, pink and blue
The morning comes
A temporary respite from the gloom
The bird soars
A dark contrast against the cloud
Its Wings spread wide
Cast shadows across the ground
All this wonder
Symbolic perseverance and strength
All I see
Are bitter angels harshly constrained
All these signs
I read them all
Their messages barely crack the surface
All these signs
Directional
Feel contrived for the purpose
Of illusion
Of illusion
Mental confusion
Prolonging the pain
The fire dances with shimmering grace
Doesn’t mock me with its burning flame
Instead in beckons, whispers gently fight on
Its crackling cinders a model still glowing strong
The smoke rises
The ash amasses
Each tendril
Forms Nature’s chapel
And I pray, and I pray
Not to god, not to the flame
But In a more generic way
To anyone or anything
To help me navigate
These nights and days
In spite of the pain
In spite of the pain
Help me fight on
In spite of the pain
All these signs
I read them all
Their messages barely crack the surface
All these signs
Directional
Feel contrived for the purpose
Of illusion
Of illusion
Mental confusion
Prolonging the pain
And I pray, and I pray
Not to god, not to the flame
But In a more generic way
To anyone or anything
To help me navigate
These nights and days
In spite of the pain
In spite of the pain
Help me fight on
In spite of the pain
In spite of the pain
